Disclaimer - I am NOT a 'professional' at business, #marketing, selling, #advertising, growing .... you name it, I am a proficient amature - at best. BUT since starting with Chalk Couture I have learned a thing or two more than I knew before about setting up a home business. (#learning) I am putting myself out there, burying my head in information and build a business and a team one social step at a time.
On that note:
Here are my TOP 5 things I've learned to do when you're stating up.
1. GET YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ROCKING:
We are living in the time of social media! our Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Pinterest, YouTube - you name it! runs our daily lives. #addictedtofacebook
Everyone has a smartphone in their hand, which means your business is at the tips of their fingers. If you want to get a head start, have your social set up and filled with content BEFORE you even start! utilize pay per click ads - they were like a charm.
2. DESIGN A KICK ASS LOGO AND BRAND YOURSELF!
Your logo and brand are two seperate things but both are important pieces of your business. A logo is often a simple design that will represent your business. Something easily recognizable and memorable. Think, Mcdonalds and the golden arches, Walmart, Target, Nike! When you see their logo, you know EXACTLY what it is and what its from.
Your brand is your business look, the experience you give your customers. Your business cards, colours, designs, customer service, uniforms! Every aspect of your company should come together in a single unit and create a recognizable brand.
#Yourbrand is who you are.
Keep it consistent and clean looking. People will be attracted to something that is easy on the eyes.
3. BUILD A WEBSITE
Building a website is a great way to connect everything. With Chalk Couture I have my business Small Town Chalkaholics. I bought my domain (www.smalltownchalkaholics.com) and build my website using #wix. I am using my site to build my brand and promote the great DIY home decor products. With my website I have the following connected:
I'm working on an online shop, AND a
My website is one location that connects me and my customers to all of these, my hub. With a website you can create blog entries and engage with you customers. You can create content that helps you creep your way up the google searches and #getonthemap. A website really gives you unlimited possibilities for you and your business.
4. HAVE A BUSINESS PLAN
Write your plan and organize your thoughts.
With #ChalkCouture, there are a TON of different ways to build our business, so all you have to decide is how much, or little you want to do and then create a plan for that.
Going to have Make & Take workshops? Make a plan, lay it all out the best you can. What is your cost? what are you going to charge? What supplies do you need that are not from chalk couture? Will you have incentives? ..... you get my point.
Home Parties? Please read above.
Finished good? Where are you going to sell them? How will you price them? What do you need to get started? Are you going to sell online? Are you going to take custom orders? How will you accept payments?
There are many different options and whether you build your #business with just one or many of them, have a plan in place.
5. HAVE AWESOME & GENUINE CONTENT
Create a schedule for you posts so that you're consistent.
Set a reasonable schedule that you can keep up with and will allow you to post quality content.
Don't overwhelm your schedule and dilute your brand with filler posts.
Create content that has intent and value. #beinspired
Create content that will interest people that creates a brand that people will trust. Make it fun and engaging! #beoriginal
